Follow-Up Friday ... Its Been a While

Today we are particpaiting in Follow-Up Friday.  We tried to keep up with this a month ago and it fell by the way-side.  Trying to do better and have a few comments I would like to respond to and hopefully know that our readers will see.  (wish Blogger would do better...)

Two weeks ago on Wordless Wednesday: Moss Covered ForestSlimDoggy asked if that was a bridge in the middle of the woods.  That is exactly what that is.  There is a creek not far from the bridge that it use to be crossing ... we had a bad flood a few years ago and the bridge has just sat in that location.  There is also another spot on a different trail in the same park with another bridge that got washed downstream and its still there.  To cross the creek now you have to get your paws wet.  Here is a picture of where we have to cross the creek now where the second bridge use to be.

Our Labor Day weekend was spent fixing a gas leak at our house.  I can happily report that the leak has been fixed.  A Tail of Two Cardis asked if we would get charged for that leaked gas ... I sure hope not!!!  That remains to be seen, but I'll report back once we find out.

Cascandian Nomads we do have a bizarro east coast thing going on to your west coast Rough Collie and Cardigan Corgi with our Smooth Collie and my parent's Pembroke.  So funny!!!!  All we need a smooth Dachshund to make it complete.  LOL!!  There is one in our training group ... next time we meet I need to get a picture of the three of them so you all.

Teach has recovered from his 3 days of supervising.  He said that Holiday weekends were supposed to be spent doing fun stuff and not "working".  Trust me ... I agree!!

Wordless Wednesday: Taking a Swim was fun.  It was our annual dog pool party at a local pool to raise money for the Humane Society in the county.  This was the second year that Teach participated.  Needless to say he would have rather watched from the sidelines.  If it weren't for me forcing the issue he swim he would have been "outa there"!!  By choice Teach doesn't mind to get his feet, nose, and belly wet ... but he does not like to swim voluntarily!!! Here are a few more pictures and a group shot of some playmates ... all of the dogs in the picture hated swimming but the Belgian Malinois and he was the crazy one of the group that dock diving off the diving board.

You can see Teach watching in the background ... this is Frisco taking the leap  Photo By: Patricia Winter

Take note of the "pulling" going on ... he really wants out ... LOL!!

From L to R: Matt with Benson the Standard Poodle, Laura with Pirate the Rough Collie and Frisco the Belgian Malinois, Colleen with River a Long Coated GSD and of course Teach who was doing a fabulous sit-stay among the chaos so I could take the picture.
Thanks for Heart Like a Dog and Pet Auto Safety for hosting this week's Follow-Up Friday.

Follow-Up Friday: Weeks 4 & 5

I was busy last weekend with a Dave Matthews Band Concert (may favorite band!) so missed out on Follow Up Friday last week.  Just to let everyone know I did read ALL the comments and thank you so much for your continued support on our journey in Blog-Land.  I do apologize I didn't get to respond to everyone.  Here is a our newer version of Follow-Up Friday encompassing two weeks!

On Black and White Sunday from two Sunday's ago we had a picture of Teach and Roxy.  I love their ears and that was one of the most popular comment ... they do go well together with them.

Wednesday had Teach with his head through the hammock on our porch.  Yes, he did this on his own and does it frequently.  He is one silly dog.  He always backs back out of it and has never tried to come all the way through.  Its the funniest thing.

Also on Wednesday we had Corgi-Time a special blog showcasing Teach's Aunt Roxy making the Daily Corgi.  She is very grateful to everyone's kind comments on it.  Teach says she has had enough blog-time now this is his blog ... LOL!!

This past Black and White Sunday Teach and I got to enjoy the outdoors the best way we know how....on a trail ride.   Teach does really well with the horses as do all the dogs along with us.  And the horses tolerate the dogs.  As a matter of fact the dogs provide some confidence for some of the horses we ride.  Its funny they look to the dogs to go first in some areas.

Monday we participated in Monday Mischief telling all about our trail ride from Sunday.  We are very lucky to live so close to our friend and she allows us to join in the fun.  Teach has been around horses since he was about 5 months old, but is still cautious around them and mindful of where their feet are.  He knows that those feet would hurt!!

Dirty Feet on Wednesday ... we have LOTS of dirty feet on our hikes/trail rides in our area with all the creeks around.  We do keep a towel in the car to clean them up a bit and if they aren't to bad we leave it at that.  But sometimes, much to Teach's dismay, we do have to take a foot bath (most of the time it doesn't warrant a full bath).  This time, though, he were just able to wipe them off at the car and all was well.  Sunday after the trail ride, though, that wasn't the case ... he looked like a black and brown Collie instead of a black, white and tan Collie!!

That brings us to today ... FitDog Friday.  This heat has been unbearable so we make our outside sessions short and late in the evenings.  Those string of videos amounted to about 10 minutes and we were all sweating and panting.  Thanks for everyone's comments on his focus, we have worked hard on that since he was 6 months old.

Slim Doggy suggested jumping through sprinklers when its hot and we will have to look into that.  Would feel good for the humans as well!!

Cascadian Nomads the 'Send to Jump' will happen eventually.  It was like one day he was struggling with it and the next day he was racing ahead of me to jump.  Like a light bulb went off ... keep up the practice and it'll happen!!

Gizmo those are apples you see on the ground.  We have a transparent apple tree that was loaded this year.  They make really good fried apples for breakfast!

For everyone going through this heat wave I sure hope you get the cool down soon!!!  Seems like it took summer forever to get to our area but when it did it hit full force.  Stay cool or think cool thoughts!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!  We are going on vacation (Teach included) next week so blogging may be at a minimal depending on internet connection, but we will come home with lots of good blog fodder!!  To the beach we go!!!!

Thanks Heart Like a Dog  and Kol's Notes for hosting another Follow-Up Friday!!

Follow-Up Friday #3

We would like to thank our hosts Heart Like a Dog and her co-host this week Kol's Notes for this great hop!

Follow-Up Friday, a Day Late

Very cool!! I like seeing responses to comments. Wordpress lets you know when you have a follow up to a comment. We used to have a blogspot bloggie and we switched over about a year ago. Anyways, keep on going with that history stuffs!
Switching to Wordpress might be something I look into if I keep this blogging up.  Although the Follow-Up Friday is working out great for getting replies out there.  We love getting out there and taking in local history.

Awesome Follow-Up, thanks for joining the blog hop. Don't worry about joining on Saturday, the hop is open until Monday.

Sounds like you had a busy week, sometimes the time just gets away from me too. Here's hoping this week is a little less hectic.
Its great you all provide this hop and even keep it open for 3 days!!  I was a bit worried last week I had missed my chance and then saw I still had time.  This week has been busy, but because its the Holiday week so we take advantage of being off work for a few days.

Awesome followups Teach...I sent a note to Jodi but thought I'd share it here too...To add that splash of color I follow Sugar's tutorial using the online PicMonkey editor http://www.sugarthegoldenretriever.com/2013/06/add-splash-of-colors-tutorial-on-black-n-white-sunday/
Hey Gizmo!  I've used PicMonkey but hadn't seen this post about adding color to a black and white.  PicMonkey may be easier than PhotoShop.  It can be a pain to try and figure out.

Black and White Sunday: Serious Look

You do have a serious look. LOVE the purplish hydrangea flowers. Happy Black n White Sunday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Something across the street had our attention for this picture and Teach didn't have his normal smile going on.

You do look very serious Teach, or maybe you are focused on a bunny in the yard perhaps?
There was a bunny or a squirrel across the road.  We were really checking out what was going on.  Or it could have been a robin ... those pesky birds have kept us on our toes all season.

Looks like Teach is pondering some weighty subjects...love the touch of blue int he hydrangeas
Teach was pondering how much trouble he would get in if he broke his stay to go chase whatever was across the road.  Which would have been a lot of trouble because we don't cross the road!!!

Love the splash of colour. Teach looks so noble.
Thanks Kat!!  I love this new feature I figured out on Photoshop!

Just beautiful! It will be ages before our Nikkos are out like that!
We have the Endless Summer variety.  The greenhouse told us they would do better in our environment   Love how you can change the color of the flowers by changing the pH of the soil.  Who would have though!!

You look adorable even with your serious face on.
Thanks Roy!

Oh that's a beautiful shot, I'd even consider framing that one. :-)
Our flowers look the prettiest in the morning so I knew we had to do this early.  I was still in my pj's!!!  Thanks so much for the nice compliment.  I need a whole wall of just Teach photos!!

A Trip Without Teach ... What?!?!

Old gravestones are neat. Sorry to hear that Teach didn't get to come on your adventure. Looks like you were able to have fun without him *gasp!*
Old cemeteries can tell so many stories we would love to know some of them.  Don't let Teach we did have fun without him!!

What a great daytrip. Wonderful photos - that pavilion is amazing! Looks like Teach had a good day, too ;-)
Its to bad you can't actually get up to the pavilion.  The pictures I've seen from people that own it has water still in the middle where it was a spring.  So neat!!  Teach enjoyed just lounging on the couch in the cool.

Looks like Teach was happy to stay home and cool...I love wandering through old cemeteries reading all the stones but finding ancestors would make it really special
My husband and I are lucky to have so many of our ancestors close so we can find the grave sites and take it all in.  Most of the time Teach goes to his crate when we leave home, but he has matured a lot so has been given some freedoms when we leave.  Was nice to know he didn't really care and was good while we were gone.

I love your lesson today. There is something about old cemeteries I really enjoy visiting and seeing the gravestones and reading them all. I love looking at the writing and the dates and seeing entire families together. Hope you guys had a great Monday.
Seeing all families together at one site is really neat.  What's sad is seeing the little lambs on top of stones knowing that was just a kid.  The really old cemeteries and graves are the really neat.

Wordless Wednesday: More Hydrangeas

Hey Teach, hope you have a good Wednesday. I think you should pick a bunch of those hydrangeas for mom to put on the dining room table!
That is a great idea to pick them for our table!!

Oh my - that is just a lovely picture. You should frame it! WOOF
Thank you!!

LOVE those Hydrangeas n you too. Happy WW. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Thanks Sugar!  Hydrangeas are our favorite flower here.  So colorful!

Such a great photo! Happy Wednesday to you!
Thank you!!!

Those are some beautiful hydrangeas you got in your garden, Teach! Almost as purdy as you ;)
Awww ... thanks Kat!!  Teach was blushing a bit at your comment.

Your hydrangea pictures are making me so happy! Our long trip was a bit of a time warp and I was in shock to come home to summer in Seattle, hydrangeas and all. Teach's poses with the flowers are helping with my shock. Thank you!
I bet that was a long trip.  I'm still trying to wrap my head around that many miles.  We've always wanted to travel like that so you've given us inspiration we can do it and bring Teach along for the ride as well.  I'm so glad we could help with the shock!

Lovely flowers. You look mighty comfy among them.
Thanks Oz!!  Its pretty cozy in there with them.

That wraps up the comments from this week.  Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July yesterday!!

Follow-Up Friday, a Day Late!

This week we are a day late so its technically Follow-Up Saturday but the week was a bit busy and didn't get on the computer much yesterday.  Sometimes its nice to take a break from it.

We would like to thank our hosts Heart Like a Dog and her co-host this week Sand Spring Chesapeakes for this great Hop!

Without further ado let's get to following up on our comments from the past week.  We'll start with last week's Follow-Up Friday.

Follow-Up Friday

Hello and thank you for joining the FUF blog hop, we love having new additions.

It looks like you had a lot to follow-up on this week, that's what I love about FUF it can be whatever you need it to be.

I too love the B&W photos with just a pop of color though I haven't quite figured out how to do it myself. ;-) guess that's one for my 'to do' list.

Have a great weekend!
This is such a great idea to get our replies out there from our comments.  Really like the way Blogger is set up but wish there was a way to get the replies to people better without them having to come back and check manually.  You would think someone could figure this out ... LOL!!
I was always amazed at how people could make color pop out of a black and white picture and thought it would super hard to do.  We use Adobe Photoshop, and honestly its easy once I figured it out.  The power of Google!  If you have Adobe Photoshop I would gladly tell you how I figured this out.

Excellent FUF. You had a lot to go over this week. You are welcome in my Thursday hop anytime. It is nice to discover new blog friends through the hops.
Thanks for the invite back to the Thursday Hop and I had every intentions to join this week and time got away with me ... next week!!  I also enjoy finding new friends from all these hops.  Who would have guessed there were so many!!

Black N White Sunday: Fire Away!

Our guess is a historic place. I see your happy smile. Have a great Sunday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
You are right it was a historic place and a fun place too!!

Looks like a cool place!
It was neat for sure ... but rather hot ... LOL!!!  We had fun though, at least the trail was mostly in the shade.

I bet you had a great adventure, Teach, wherever it was!
There was lots of new smells for Teach to check out and I don't think he left a leaf unturned.

Wow, cool! What a great picture. Looks like you're somewhere awesome! ;)
xoxo
Marquie, Lassie & Petal
Thanks!  The sun was baking hot so we were trying to hurry for a picture with the cannon.

I'm guessing Civil War battlefield but I'll be coming back to see which one
You guessed correct Gizmo!!  You're a smart puppy!!

Oh that looks cool. We love ourselves some history. Can't wait to see!
Teach's dad is a history major so this family is always up for new history adventures.

Gettysburg? Great shot!
Not quite Gettysburg ... a much smaller scale ... but great guess!!  We hope to visit Gettysburg this fall and you can guarantee lots of pictures from that trip.  Dogs are even allowed!!

Fabulous picture!
Thanks!!  Teach makes a great study.

Monday Mischief: Weekend Happenings

How beautiful. That park would be right up my alley!
Thank!  We love Civil War Battlefields.

Hey Teach - very cool hike - so many different things, water, stairs, grass, etc. And the lighthouse...hmm why would a landlocked state need one...I guess just to enjoy the pretty view from the top. Be sure and take some pictures for us when you climb it.
We aren't sure why WV got a Lighthouse and its a running joke around here as well.  Its a short distance from our largest lake but still ... no "real" need for a lighthouse.

Oh what fun! I miss that part of the country. Rhodas. Rapids. Class I is my limit, but drifting down river in a raft ... Thanks for sharing!
In my younger days I did raft the Lower New River which had up to Class V rapids ... now however I like your idea of just drifting down the river over Class I rapids ... LOL!!!

Great tour Teach! That looks like a nice shady trail and it's good when you can get a history lesson thrown in...Dogs need to keep up their education too...Momz sez that video is pretty neat and she's never seen one like that on a building before...Loved the lookout points...did you get to take a swim in the river on that hot day?
No swim that day for Teach.  But I think he wished we would have since it was so hot!!!

What an amazing place. I love it all. I wonder like Gizmo said - did you get to go for a swim??
Thanks!  No swimming that day.  The Gauley isn't a great place to swim and dogs on the beach area of Summersville is frowned upon.  After our very hot hike I think we all wished we could have jumped in some water.

I have nominated you for the Liebster Awards, visit my blog to receive it!
Dina
Oh WOW Dina!!!  Thanks so much.  Can't beleive we've been nominated for yet another award.  I'll get right on that one!!

What beautiful photos Teach! Looks like you had a wonderful day! :)
Thanks!  It was a really pawtastic day!!!

I've rafted on the Gauley but it was years ago! Great pictures!
You're much braver than I am!!!  I've done the Lower New twice, but that was also years ago.  Now I just like floating down the calmer section, but love watching people raft these harder parts.

What a wonderful place to visit! Great photos.
It was a really fun place to visit and we plan to go back when they do the re-enactment next year.

What an adventure you had! That lighthouse looks like it will be fun to climb!
Enjoy,
Your pal Snoopy :)
If only they let dogs climb the lighthouse ....  When we climb it we'll be sure to blog about it!!

Wordless Wednesday: Harmony ... Sort of ...

Teach is in the house! Be sweet Teach. Help everyone have a Wonderful Wednesday!
Teach is the sweet one ... Demetri ... not so much!!  LOL!!!

I see a SMILE. Happy Wednesday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Teach was smiling ... Demetri was glaring!  HAHA!

Too funny! Sometimes I wonder how harmonious we are in our house too. Happy Wednesday to you!
In this case there was no resting going on ... each other had their eye on the other one.

Poor kitty...Which is worse...Having the camera in your face or the dog in the house?
Dog in the house is MUCH worse!!!

Well. This is a dilemma now, isn't it? Hm.
www.dogtreatweb.com
It was a whole afternoon of dilemma's for those two!!

Hahaha, oh no. You better watch your back, Teach. Looks like the cat might be plotting something. ;P
xoxo
Marquie, Lassie & Petal
Yes Teach was the one that had to watch his back for sure.  At one point Teach walked past Demetri and was wagging his tail and accidently hit Demetri in the face ... ooops ... and you thought the cat was attacked ... he flipped out and attacked the tail back.  Was so funny and Teach was horrified ... HAHA!!  He's a lover not a fighter.

Hopefully they will coexist. :)
They certainly did better this time around (they aren't around each other much).  So hopefully next time we good even smoother.

Looks like a standoff - for now.... :)
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy :)
It was a standoff and the Kitty was winning!

Amelia sits in the window when my mom brings her dogs over! Good job not herding that kitty, Teach!
I think Teach knew better than to try and herd him.  Most cats he does try but this is the biggest once he's around.  I tell the cats just don't run but they never seem to figure this out ... LOL!!  My friend has like 8 or 9 dogs and several barn cats and those cats know just to sit still and the dogs will leave them alone.

Well I think that pretty much wraps up the week of comments.  Thanks for following us and leaving comments.  And thanks again to DinaDog for nominating us for another award!!!

Since it seems weird not having a picture on a Blog I'll leave you with a pic from our hike last night.
