Today is day 26 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today we bring this challenge to a close with the letter Z. Today is Zero more posts for this challenge. I set out to do with challenge in the back of my mind wondering if I could really post for this many days in a row. I had been hit or miss most weeks, with the exception of picture posts. I have to say I've had a blast doing it and also seeing what all my other blog friends decided to do with each other. So much creativity. So with that ... Here's Teach ...
Today is day 24 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Like I've said before these last few have been tough. We chose Yum as our Y today. I've seen so many people spell out stuff with their dogs treats and have the dog stay behind them I thought "why not". Teach can do this! Randy helped get all the treats laid out and then brought Teach in (told him he couldn't have any just yet) and got this picture.
And since I'm not that mean I let him have a bite. Love how he started on the 'Y'.
Today is day 24 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. These last letters are getting harder and harder. Today we chose to show off Teach's Perfect X (the X being roman numeral for 10). So the top X things that make Teach Perfect. I. He's a Collie. II. He's a Tri Color. III. He has an awesome personality. IV. Has 3 Obedience Titles V. Super Smart VI. He's friendly with all other animals and people that he meets. VII. He is a great protector of our yard from those evil Robins. VIII. He loves to hike and be outdoors with us. IX. He's very patient (i.e. ... getting his picture taken) X. He's a Smooth Collie.
Today is day 23 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today we are picking Waterfall for W. Any regular reader of this blog knows how much I love taking pictures of waterfalls. So its only fitting to use that for W. Below are several pictures I've featured on this blog before of Waterfalls (some with Teach in them, of course).
Today is day 22 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. This part of the alphabet gets difficult! Today we chose V for Vigilant. Teach is on constant watch for dogs and other animals that enter our yard. His biggest arch nemesis this time of year is the dreaded Robin! Yes, you have to be on the watch out for it. He is ever vigilant to get rid of those dreaded birds.
Teach being vigilant while I read and enjoy a cup of coffee one evening. Always protecting
Is that a Robin I see???
Who is walking down the street that isn't allowed??
Today is day 21 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. U was a tough one but since we get so many questions about what breed of dog Teach is, I thought Unique was appropriate. There is a t-shirt at Cafe Press that I would love to get to wear around because I've had all these questions. Had one just last week ... said he was a Collie/Greyhound mix. LOL!!!
My response is always "No, he is a Smooth Collie. He is just like Lassie only doesn't have all the hair". Then its like a light bulb goes off and they see he is a Collie. Everyone knows Lassie so that makes it easier to relate to them.
I also think where he is a tri color and not a sable/white it also confuses people. He is unique in our part of the state.
Today is day 20 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today T is for ... you guessed it ... TEACH!!! What else on this blog would it be for since this blog is about him. We went for a hike last week and went tree climbing. Then Randy decided last night he wanted to try his hand at tree climbing.
Today is day 18 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today R is for Rally. On April 5th Teach and I (along with Randy) traveled to Blacksburg, VA to an obedience/rally competition. Teach and I were showing in Excellent A and going for our last leg for our Rally Excellent title. With his injury and the weather practicing up to the show had been hit or miss, but I'm VERY happy to report that my boy not only received his title that day, but also first place!
My friends were there also to cheer us on so that was great having their support. And Laura took the video below if you would like to watch it. Be sure and watch how excited Teach gets to jump ... he would have kept going back over it had I not been able to call him back to me!! He LOVED to jump ... nothing was hurting on this dog that day!
We did redo the 3 steps back sign because he was distracted by the lady in the other ring.
Now we are moving on to regular obedience and would love to find some agility training close by where he seems to LOVE to jump.
Today is day 17 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today was a tough one with Q. But being in my family you always have a Quilt laying around, made by my mom, so it was fitting to have Quilt as our Q letter. For me, I think quilts are very pretty (and do request some to be made for us), but not something I want to make. You take a perfectly pretty piece of fabric and cut it all up and then piece it all back together. Seems like you could just take the one piece of fabric and save LOTS of time! :-) All joking aside ... they are useful and pretty. Here Teach is modeling one made for my cousin.
I call this the Teach quilt because he blends so well.
This quilt mom made to go in our spare bedroom twin bed.
This quilt was made for my youngest cousin. Her mom colored the Dr. Seuss block and mom created the patter to make it into a quilt for them.
And anyone that saw the M post for Madalynn ... well she has LOTS of quilts already.
These are only a few of them. I don't think I have pictures of all of the ones she got.
And here is the quilt mom made on our bed and of course Teach likes to get up there and pose.
Today is day 16 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today we bring you P for Playing Dead (or Bang). We have shared a few posts about this trick before. But I have an updated video to share of performing this trick.
It had been a long time since Teach has been asked to perform this trick and was proud of how quick he remembered. Shows that shaping does seem to stick with dogs even when not performed on a regular basis.
Today is day 15 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days. Its called the A to Z challenge. Today's letter is O for Ocean. Each July we take a vacation to the Ocean along the Outerbanks (another O) in North Carolina. Followers of our blog have seen some of our ocean pictures. I will share a few below for anyone new to the blog. These particular ocean pictures are taken in the town of Hatteras Village. The southern most tip of the Outerbanks before you have to take a ferry to other parts.
