Catching Up

Seems like all I have had time for over the past several weeks is the picture posts that don't require much time (puppies consume a lot of time!).  Its not a bad thing, but some things falter because of it.

We're getting ready for our yearly vacation to the beach next week.  Really looking forward to it.  This year we have not 1 but 2 new members of our family getting to go, Tucker & Madalynn.

We're also getting to share our "island" with my mother-in-law this year.  Looking forward to showing her all that Hatteras has to offer.  Its always fun to take people down there that has never been or its been a really, really long time (which is her case).

With the heat we haven't been hitting the woods as much as I would like (that and finding the snake last month ... YIKES!).  We did get an early morning walk in this weekend and were able to turn the dogs loose for a bit to play and chase each other.

Always a good sign when the tongue is hanging low!
Was finally able to find time to hit the trails with Laura this week (had been far to long).  Tucker is still to little to partake in that so its was just Teach and his brothers.

Riding Dakota
Afterwards Laura wanted to take a horse down to the ring to practice some obstacles in preparation of a judged trail ride coming up.  I walked Tucker down to see what he thought of the horse and also to let him run some energy off.

Love how happy he looks with his tail up ... you can just see him prancing down the road.

"Hey ... what is she doing?"

"Oh ... well that's interesting"

"Quick this way!"

"See ... I can pose on a block too"

"Let's play!"
That's a quick look at what's been going on with us since I've been sort of MIA the past few weeks.

F is for Friends

Today is day 6 in our 26 day challenge of posting a letter a day for the next 26 days (excluding Sundays).  Its called the A to Z challenge.  Today we bring you F for Friends.

Teach has a lot of friends.  He started socializing as soon as we got him home.  His breeder had put a good foundation on him but its good to keep it going so he made lots of friends at a young age.

This was the first time he met his "brother" Xander and they have continued their friendship till today.

Teach still lets him roll him ... LOL!!

Benson, Teach and a Doberman from Obedience class in 2012.  He was part of the advertisement.
After a hard class its always fun to let teh dogs have some supervised free time to play as they want.

This winter Teach got to connect with another class friend for some fun hiking.  That is until he hurt himself.  But even after being confined when he gets back out there with his friends he still wants to play with his friends and be social.
Fun play with Gabe ... even though it looks evil.  They have a blast together.

Normally on horse back rides we have a pack of dogs going with us.  They are all very socialized friends.

Today we are participating in the monthly Positive Pet Training Blog Hop.  Doing fun things with your dog, like socializing with others, is another way to keep things positive and fun for them.

A Ride With Beautiful Views

On Thursday I was able to take the day off work and enjoy a nice horseback ride.  We headed out the road to a farm not far that had some awesome views across the New River Gorge over into Fayette County.

To keep the peace in the neighborhood we leashed our dogs out the road past the neighbor's houses.  This was quite a feat for Laura and her pack of 3.  I only had Teach, who wasn't to thrilled with the idea, but did well.  Below is a video of this:

Before we headed out on the ride we let the whole pack of dogs play for a little bit to get their energy out.  Knowing we had to lead dogs the number we took with us was limited.  Here are some pictures of them having fun (and posing) and a video of them playing.

Two Tris - a Smooth and a Rough (Pirate)

Pirate, Frisco (Belgian Malinois), and Argos (German Shepherd) killing the road cone

Xander didn't want Pirate to participate in the photos.
Now for the pictures of our ride.  We head to ride straight up the side of a mountain to get to the really pretty views.  One of the pictures is of me on the side of the mountain ... you can kinda tell how steep it was in it.  The horses did great coming up it and didn't get very winded.  The dogs were ready for a rest when we got to the top.  It was worth it for the views.  There is also a video of a portion of our mountain riding.
