Follow-Up to Wordless Wednesday

Two weeks ago we had a fun dog show hosted by the Beckley Kennel Club.  The Club is trying to think of ways to raise some money and Fun Dogs Shows are always popular so we thought we could give it a try.

There were 5 classes that we offered:  Tallest Dog, Best Trick, Waggiest Tail, Best Costume and Smallest Dogs.  All dogs entered into the show were able to compete in Best In Show at the end.  We did this from crowd favorite.

We had a great turn out considering it was all last minute planning and so many other things in town going on.  Most of the dogs were members from our club, but we did have several that showed up to show.  I hope we made it fun enough for them that they would consider doing it again.

Enjoy the pictures below.

Randy was Teach's handler for the day!

Gabe, the Aussie, jumping over his human and through the hoop

Teach in the process of dying ... he was a 2-shot dog

Going down!

Flying Poodle, Benson, through a hoop

Merry Ann gets the award for most senior dog and still performing!

Teach brought out the ghost costume, but its always hard to compete against cute little dogs and handlers

Our Best In Show Winner, Ginger with her human!
We hope to do this again in the fall and maybe offer some more classes.  It did seem to be well received by the public.  The Beckley Kennel Club didn't have a normal dog show this year (hard times!) so this was the next best thing.

  2. Looks like a great day! Did it raise much money for the club?

  3. We raised almost $150. Not to bad, I don't think. Everything we had was donated by members so no cost that had to reimbursed.
