Park Day 2.0 ... BINGO #5

Here we go again ... this will be our 5th BINGO card.  We have been busy the past few weeks and just haven't sat down to see what all BINGOs we have collect.

This time ... Card #4 row 4 (second one up from the bottom).

First ... Hike a woodsy trail.  This was an easy one as every trail we go on is woodsy.  I picked a picture from our hike this weekend on the Rend Trail close to Thurmond, WV.  This was an old rail grade turned into a hiking/biking trail.  You could even see some of the rail line along the trail.

Second ... Follow Gizmo's blog by RSS or email.  It has been added to my Feedly feed and have enjoyed reading Gizmo's adventures.

Third ... Visit a park at sunset.  We did this one ...

Fourth ... Find a monument or sculpture.  Found one ...

Last ... Visit a park more than 30 minutes from your house.  Got this one with Cascade Falls in Pembroke, VA.  An hour from the house.

BINGO!!

As before....The Park Day 2.0 game was created by Finn & Charley Too and Gizmo. Get out and enjoy the outdoors with your dogs!!!!!  And then join in the fun.

Park Day 2.0 .... BINGO #3!

Its getting close to the end of Park Day 2.0 so Teach and I were looking at our BINGO cards again to see if we had any more BINGOs.  And sure enough we found one with Card 9.

We have the Second row down going across.

First ... Visit a park more than 30 minutes from your house.  Got this one a few weeks ago when we visited Cascade Falls in Pembroke, VA.  Its about an hour from the house.

Next on the list ... Like KONG Premium Treats on Facebook.  Got this one ... Now we need to head out and try to find some in the store.

Third ... Visit a park less than 10 minutes from your house.  We do this one every week at Little Beaver State Park in Daniels, WV.  This is the most recent picture from this past Thursday when we were trying to beat the rain to get a walk in.

What's going on over there??

Fourth ... Visit a park at sunset.  This one was hard to capture, but never the less we got it.  Living in the mountains its hard to find a place that the sun isn't completely blocked by this time of the evening.

Last on the row ... Like Cloud Star on Facebook.  Got this one as well.  Looks like they have some yummy things for Teach to try on there.

So .. with that we have our 3rd BINGO!  YAY!!

As before....The Park Day 2.0 game was created by Finn & Charley Too and Gizmo. Get out and enjoy the outdoors with your dogs!!!!!  And then join in the fun.

Park Day 2.0 - Take One & BINGO!

Yesterday I posted a bunch of pictures from our hike at Cascade Falls in Pembroke, VA.  This was the start of us trying to do the Park 2.0.  Today we went out to the park close to home to finish up one of the cards.

We chose BINGO Card 8 and did Horizontal Row 3.

First up is visit a park more than 30 minutes from your house, DONE.
Cascade Falls Pembroke, VA - An hour South of us.

Second is Follow Finn's Blog by RSS or email.  We did this the other evening by email when the Park 2.0 went live.

Third is Park Bench Free.  This is a FREE spot, but we did this anyways so want to share the picture.  (It was a bit dramatic getting him to sit his big butt on the little bench and he would be upset if I did it for nothing ... LOL ... So I have to share.)

Doesn't he look annoyed??
Fourth on the row is Have playground fun on a slide or swing.  You would think this would be more dramatic than a park bench, but he liked this.  Pictures below...

Last on the row is Like Deidre's K9 Naturals on Facebook. Just did this and it looks to have some neat things so we will be checking into this further.

We call B-I-N-G-O!!!

The Park Day 2.0 game was created by Finn & Charley Too and Gizmo. Get out and enjoy the outdoors with your dogs!!!!!  And then join in the fun.

Black and White Sunday: Happy Birthday Teach!!

Hard to believe that our boy turns two today!!!

Hiking to Cascade Falls

I found out about this trail from a Waterfall Book that I got a few years ago.  When I realized just how close this was I knew we needed to go check it out.  Glad we did ... its one of the prettiest trails/creeks/waterfalls I've seen.  This is in Pembroke, VA which is about an hour south and about 25 minutes from Virginia Tech.  It also within the Jefferson National Forest so there is a $3 per vehicle fee to use the site.

The drop of the falls is 66 feet.  There really isn't a bad angle once you get to the falls to get a picture.  There is an upper walkway which we didn't do and then the lower where we are.  There is so much room that even with lots of people out there you can find a spot to sit and take in the beauty of the falls.  Some people had also packed in a picnic and were enjoying it out on the rocks in the creek.

There are two options to get to the end result (the waterfall) which is a little over 2 miles out.  The lower trail and the upper trail.  The Lower trail offers a more scenic route but is a lot more rugged.  The upper trail is much wider and no steep steps, just a gradual incline.  We opted to take the lower trail first and come back by way of the upper trail.  Only we didn't get on the upper trail until halfway back.  Glad we did it that way because its a much prettier section on the lower part.  And if we had gone the upper path then we would have missed the two Collies that were heading out.  You don't see fellow Collies very often in our area and I wish I had gotten a picture.  Teach knew they were like him (only with hair) because he really wanted to play with them.  They were like typical Collies and were very kind to his antics.

Below are a bunch pictures of the trail.  I'll let them tell the story.  **Beware there is a lot**

Hope you enjoyed and made it down this far after all those pictures ... LOL!  Can you see why I was torn what to show (and this is only about 20 of the 100 I took!).

We are planning to participate in Park Day 2.0 with some of these pictures.  Just trying to fill in a few more B-I-N-G-O spots on the card before we do so we get to yell "BINGO".  Stay tuned for that!

**Update** Just realized we could still join in the FitDog Friday Blog Hop.
